Irregular cell phones and its risks

A recent survey by Abinee - Brazilian Association of the Electrical and Electronic Industry revealed that a quarter of cell phones sold in Brazil are irregular, raising significant concerns about the security and compliance of electronic devices in the national market. This alarming data highlights the urgent need to intensify Anatel's inspection and approval actions to ensure that consumers only have access to duly approved products.

Kim Rieffel, CEO of PCN Latin America and vice-president of Telecommunications at the ABRAC Association - Brazilian Conformity Assessment Association, commented on the situation: "The presence of irregular products on the market represents a great risk for consumers and harms companies that follow compliance standards. Certification bodies designated by Anatel and ABRAC associates promote rigorous certification of electronic devices to ensure that only products that meet quality and safety standards reach the hands of consumers."

In an interview with g1, Kim adds: "Anatel's approval process includes security issues, where the device is stressed by subjecting it to abnormal conditions of use to ensure that, even in the face of more critical conditions, users do not incur any type of error. of risk.”

PCN Latam, in partnership with regulatory authorities, continues to work to strengthen the quality infrastructure and ensure that products sold in Brazil comply with international standards. Certification is a crucial step to protect consumers and ensure market integrity.
