Anatel – the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency – released an institutional video and a White Paper providing guidance on practices to combat piracy of telecommunications equipment and its impacts on the regulated environment. The material presents information on the risks associated with the use of irregular products, including security vulnerabilities, harmful interference, and negative impacts on service quality.
The document also describes the Agency’s areas of action, such as inspection activities, market monitoring, cooperation with other public authorities, and educational initiatives aimed at consumers and economic agents. In addition, it details the role of certification and homologation in preventing the circulation of non-compliant products.
The publication reinforces the regulatory understanding of the importance of acquiring and marketing telecommunications equipment that is duly certified, in accordance with current regulations.
