Quality infrastructure and global AI

The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), in partnership with ISO – International Organization for Standardization – and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), held the International AI Standards Summit 2025 on December 2 and 3, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea.

The event aimed to present international AI standards as instruments for business application, risk mitigation, and interoperability, acting as a bridge between different global regulatory frameworks. The CEO of PCN Latin America, Kim Rieffel, attended the event in person, following the developments of the proposals presented and deepening the global understanding of the topic.

The relevance of ensuring interoperability, trust, and transparency in AI systems as part of quality infrastructure was highlighted, in order to mobilize Latin American metrology, calibration, certification, and accreditation systems to address the emerging challenges of artificial intelligence.
