The voluntary certification applicable to solid waste management programs, developed by PCN Latin America, was chosen by the International Accreditation Forum Inc and INTERNATIONAL LABORATORY ACCREDITATION CO-OPERATION (ILAC) among numerous global initiatives as a success story in conformity assessment and was recognized for its excellence and impact on society as a way of presenting the tangible results of accreditation.
The participation of your case study publication in this select group of internationally shared experiences is part of the celebration of World Accreditation Day, which takes place on June 9th, which aims to highlight the crucial role that accreditation plays in building a world safer, more efficient and sustainable. This year, the theme is "Accreditation: Sustainability and Economic Development", demonstrating how accreditation can contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program, which involves an accredited voluntary certification scheme, is designed for large commercial and industrial on-site systems. This is a significant recognition by institutions the size of ISO - International Organization for Standardization, UNIDO and IAF that demonstrates the positive impact in promoting waste management practices that are more sustainable and efficient, contributing significantly to environmental protection.
The international recognition received highlights the importance and effectiveness of this program, placing it as an example of global good practice. Certification of waste management systems through this scheme not only improves companies' operational efficiency, but also demonstrates a clear commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
