Inmetro publishes Public Consultation No. 6/2026, proposing new administrative rules for the enforcement of products sold in e-commerce.
The proposal establishes guidelines for the presentation, in online sales environments, of products subject to compulsory conformity assessment, the Brazilian Labeling Program (PBE), metrological regulation, and rules applicable to prepackaged goods.
Among the main points, listings must display, when applicable, the Conformity Identification Seal or the National Energy Conservation Label (ENCE), as well as the registration number with Inmetro – National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology – and other regulatory information. For measuring instruments, the indication of the model approval ordinance will be required, and for prepackaged goods, the nominal quantity and other mandatory information must be included. In case of irregularities, Inmetro may request the removal or suspension of the listing within up to two business days and may require the advertiser’s data.
Companies, marketplaces, importers, manufacturers, and industry associations should closely monitor the public consultation and assess potential operational and legal impacts. The initiative represents progress in adapting Inmetro’s enforcement mechanisms to the current reality of e-commerce, enhancing traceability and transparency of information. The deadline for submitting contributions is 45 days, through the Brasil Participativo Platform. Companies are advised to assess the impacts of the proposal and any necessary adjustments.
