Representatives of the Institute for Quality Management and Intellectual Property (IGQPI) of Cape Verde participate in the IEC mentoring program in Brazil.
The IGQPI Institute for Quality Management and Intellectual Property is the national committee that represents Cape Verde in the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). The institution was selected to participate in the IEC Affiliate Countries Mentoring Program, with Brazil as mentor, through the Brazilian IEC committee, the Brazilian Committee for Electricity, Electronics, Lighting and Telecommunications - COBEI.
The national committees, members of the IEC, seek to expose local needs in terms of quality infrastructure, standardization, certification, market surveillance and integrate joint work in the development of standards, safeguarding the interests of their nations.
The mentoring is being led by Fabián Yaksic and Jose Viel, president and superintendent of COBEI. Charles Smiderle, certification manager at PCN Latin America, joined the delegation last Thursday (27), giving a presentation on the topic “Relationship between a Product Certification Body and its National Accreditor”. Charles explained the conformity assessment process in Brazil and the link with Cgcre of Inmetro - National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology. On the same day, the delegation went on a technical visit to Midea Carrier, a company that has a Quality Management System assessed and certified by a Brazilian certification body.
The delegation was composed of Charles Smiderle - PCN of Brazil, Fabian Yaksic - ABINEE, Eng. Ana Paula Spencer - President of the Board of Directors of IGQPI, Eng. Rito Evora - National Director of Industry, Commerce and Energy (DNICE), Eng. Gilson Correia - President of the Center for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI), Eng. Artur Sanches - Representative of the Multisectoral Agency for the Regulation of the Economy (ARME), Eng. Claudino Mendes, PhD - Representative of the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency - ECREEE, Eng. Mário Oliveira - Representative of the Directorate of Industry, Commerce and Energy and President of the Technical Committee for Standardization of Electrotechnical Products (CTN 006) and Eng. Tomy Alves - Representative of IGQPI and Secretary of the Technical Committee for Standardization of Electrotechnical Products (CTN 006).
