IAF Releases 2024 IAF MLA Annual Report: Strengthening Global Confidence in Certified Chains
The International Accreditation Forum Inc. (IAF) published its 2024 Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) Annual Report, highlighting the consolidation of the agreement as a central instrument for trust in internationally accredited certifications.
According to the official document, the MLA currently involves approximately 84 signatory accreditation bodies, representing around 100 economies through their recognized Regional Groups.
More than 2 million active certificates — covering management systems, products, personnel, and GHG validation/verification — ensure the technical recognition and global acceptance of certificates issued by accredited bodies.
The report also highlights the incorporation of new scopes such as ecodesign, digital trust, and certification schemes in food logistics, strengthening the agreement’s coverage and its impact on sustainability and safety.
The publication can be presented based on the post by Marcus Long, Chair of the IAF Communications and Marketing Committee, who noted: “The IAF Multilateral Agreement report, a timely reminder of how the MLA … contributes to the facilitation of world trade by eliminating technical barriers,” reinforcing the strategic nature of the agreement for regulatory convergence and competitiveness.
