Inmetro updates the regulations of Refrigerators in Brazil

The Inmetro - National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology approved a new regulation that establishes clearer, modern and technically updated rules for the approval of Refrigerators in Brazil.

The measure aims to strengthen the national industry, promoting innovation, competitiveness and alignment with international practices. The update replaced obsolete methods of validation, where the models with automatic ice maker and water and gel dispenser in the holder were endorsed by the same formula two common models – which resulted in a large technical barrier for the hashtag #indústria.

Among the technical advances are the adoption of more modern conformity assessment criteria, improved product traceability, and incentives for the development of more efficient and sustainable technologies.

The new regulatory structure also seeks to reduce compliance costs without compromising product safety and quality, in addition to promoting greater agility in the approval processes.

Updating represents an important step to ensure that regulation accompanies the pace of technological innovation, allowing the Brazilian market to incorporate new solutions with security and predictability.
