Evaluation of measuring instrument models

Inmetro begins consultation for update of Portaria nº 176/2021 on validation of measurement instrument models

The Inmetro - National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology opened the subsidy collection process to review and approve Portaria nº 176/2021, which establishes the requirements for the validation of models of measurement instruments subject to legal metrological control. The update proposal is available in the form of preliminary technical regulations, as published on the Institute's website.

The objective of the review is to make the procedures more efficient, transparent and aligned with international practices, guaranteeing greater legal security for manufacturers, importers and organizations that perform metrological verification. Among the aspects under discussion are the excellent documentary analysis, the rationalization of endorsement tests and the updating of two technical criteria based on the experience accumulated since the publication of the current standard.

The participation of the technical society is fundamental for the construction of a more modern and effective standard.
