Compliance, legality, and fair competition in the ISP sector

During Link ISP 2025, held in Gramado (RS), Anatel – National Telecommunications Agency reinforced the role of monitoring and regularizing internet service providers (ISPs) as essential measures to ensure network security, service quality, and competitive balance in the telecommunications sector.

The Agency highlighted the risks associated with irregular providers, such as:

  • Use of non-approved equipment;
  • Cybersecurity vulnerabilities;
  • Lack of technical guarantees for consumers;
  • Regulatory evasion affecting market sustainability.

According to its representatives, Anatel’s actions prioritize guidance-based and responsive monitoring, aiming to promote the formalization and technical regularization of operators — in line with a regulatory agenda that values compliance and combats unfair practices.

Quality infrastructure plays a key role in this process, especially regarding equipment conformity assessment, technical approval, and product certification used in telecommunications networks.
