Anatel Opens Public Consultation to Update Certification Requirements for SMP Signal Boosters
Anatel — the National Telecommunications Agency — has opened Public Consultation No. 27/2025 to review and update the technical requirements applicable to the certification of signal boosters for the Personal Mobile Service (SMP). The proposal aims to ensure that devices used to extend mobile phone signal coverage and quality comply with the required technical standards, preventing harmful interference to networks.
Signal boosters, frequently used in indoor environments or coverage shadow areas, require strict compliance to guarantee compatibility with operators’ networks and safe use of the radiofrequency spectrum.
The public consultation will remain open until October 5, 2025, allowing manufacturers, certification bodies, operators, civil associations, and other stakeholders to contribute suggestions and technical comments on the proposal.
This initiative is relevant for consumers and the industry, as it establishes an updated regulatory framework, providing greater clarity and security in the marketing of these devices in the national market.
