Air conditioning in hot climates

The use of air conditioners in this summer of very high temperatures has become very common, but the choice of model and the way in which the device is used make all the difference in energy consumption.

Inmetro - National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology has released some guidelines to help consumers reduce energy consumption, without sacrificing thermal comfort.

Some simple measures, such as avoiding doors and windows being constantly opened during use and cleaning the filters regularly, can improve the efficiency of the equipment and reduce the impact on the electricity bill.

When purchasing, it is essential for the consumer to check the label of the Brazilian Labeling Program PBE, which indicates the level of energy efficiency of the device. Models with the Eletrobras Procel Seal are the most economical, consuming less electricity without compromising performance. Another important point is to choose equipment with inverter technology, which adjusts the operating power and avoids consumption peaks, providing greater savings over time.

In addition to choosing the equipment, small actions in everyday life can also make a difference. Adjusting the temperature to between 23ºC and 26ºC, avoiding direct sunlight on the external unit and ensuring periodic maintenance of the device are good practices that contribute to more efficient use.

The PBE is an important ally for consumers in the search for more sustainable products, ensuring transparency in the choice and encouraging the industry to develop increasingly economical and effective solutions.
