In the most diverse sectors, companies seek to mitigate environmental impact through initiatives that promote more sustainable processes and products. One of these initiatives is the adoption of certification programs that bring transparency and reliability that these practices are actually in accordance with less environmentally harmful practices, thus seeking to avoid the so-called “greenwashing”, which, in short, is the false promotion of environmentally correct attitudes.
With the growing importance of the ESG agenda, including in regulatory areas, it is increasingly important that there is reliability that sustainability actions taken by companies are verified by an impartial third party. This is why conformity assessment is extremely important for the environmental agenda.
In this sense, many certification programs with a sustainable approach integrate the market by promoting the repositioning of companies and incorporate product marketing arguments, but how can you attest to the reliability of these programs? In other words, how reliable and transparent are these certification programs?
PCN Latin America, as a certification body accredited to Inmetro - National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology, defends the submission of programs like this to accreditation, that is, official recognition that the certification program complies with standards techniques specific to the process, service or product subjected to conformity assessment.
For this reason, PCN submitted its Solid Waste Management Certification Program for accreditation by the General Accreditation Coordination (CGCRE) of INMETRO, an official body and an exempt third party in the process. This means that in addition to gains in credibility, the program gains recognition on a global scale due to multilateral mutual recognition agreements, resulting from the cooperation of global accreditation bodies, adding reliability, transparency and importance to the conformity seal.
