The Webinar took place today, at 11am Brasília time: “Ideas in digital transformation for accreditation (A4dt Project): new technological trends”. Promoted by the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) in partnership with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB, the event brought a series of experts to discuss how technology changes accreditation processes, conformity assessment, market surveillance, among other branches of Quality Infrastructure.
The CEO of PCN Latin America, Kim Rieffel, participated in the third panel addressing the topic “Digital Transformation in Conformity Assessment”. Kim shared the debate table with Alex Stoichitoiu from the IQNET Association under the moderation of Cynthia Manan from Organismo Dominicano de Crédito (ODAC).
According to Kim, digitalization trends and technological advances bring with them the opportunity to increase the consistency of the work of conformity assessment bodies for the main interested party in making assessment processes and flows more efficient, the end consumer. Kim highlights the importance of cooperation between conformity assessment and accreditation bodies in disseminating the topic, explaining that technology can help product users understand details of conformity assessment and what a conformity seal represents, such as, for example, understanding the relevance of a seal of conformity accredited to an Organization. In short, for Kim, digital transformation brings more transparency and reliability for the end consumer to the entire conformity assessment process.
In convergence with this understanding, PCN implemented remote audit systems, bringing facilities and reducing costs, in addition to implementing the use of QR Codes along with conformity marks, enabling the user of the certified product to access the certificate information, the scheme certification for which the product was submitted and also provides a direct communication channel with the PCN team to query the process. Thus, the end user of the products begins to understand more clearly what the product certification process means, bringing more confidence to the system as a whole.
